What you can do for Missourians this week:

Call Gov. Parson (573) 751-3222 and tell him we DON’T need another consultant to tell us that state employees are underpaid! After vetoing raises to child welfare workers, Gov. Parson has hired consultants to look into how to increase the pay of the very workers he denied raises.

From the Candidates

We have invited Democratic Candidates (or, at the county level, “friendly” candidates) affecting St. Charles County to share some of their thoughts here. Each week we will try to include submissions from candidates at the county, state and federal level. Order of publication is based on order of receipt of the submission. Disclaimer: This is for the benefit of voter engagement, and does not represent an endorsement of any candidate by the St. Charles Co Democratic Central Committee.

From Jessica DeVoto, Candidate for MO House District 104 (pending redistricting)

"I'm going to touch on a rarely-addressed issue: accessibility. The ADA was a huge victory for folks with disabilities, but we still have work to do. Many homes and businesses are not wheelchair accessible. Homes often have stairs to get in, and businesses may not have handicap doors. You may not notice these things, but they're essential to folks with disabilities. We need to encourage builders to make their buildings accessible. Public transportation has problems too, such as drivers that don't know how to tie a wheelchair down. Para-transportation also needs improvements. They're often late, they require several days' notice, and they only travel within your home county. One of my ideas is to replace a few of the rides that we offer to folks who qualify for para-transportation with vouchers for rideshare services for unplanned and longer-distance trips. We also need to increase compensation for direct care professionals. And folks with disabilities often can never get married (or even give the appearance of it) because they will lose their disability benefits. We've only scratched the surface here. It's time we have a serious conversation about this issue. Please tell me your questions, comments, and concerns. Contact information at jessicadevoto.com."

Indivisible We Will Persist St. Charles – Ongoing Post Card Campaign

Indivisible We Will Persist is working with Indivisible Philidelphia to inform PA voters about the American Rescue Plan. Surveys show that voters across the country are unaware of what was provided to them through this bill nor that NO Republican voted for this bill. If voters do not see a reason to vote Democratic in the 2022 elections, then the US Congress could shift to GOP control.

100 pre-printed postcards will be mailed to your home. You will write 2 SHORT sentences and the voter's address on the postcard and stamp and mail. You have 2 months to complete and mail the postcards. That is only 15 a week.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Linda Scroggin, Co-Leader Indivisible We Will Persist, at Lescrog@aol.com.
