Action items from the Missouri House Democratic Legislative Network (DLN):

1. Call and tell your legislator that we need to fully fund Medicaid expansion, as required by our constitution and voted on by Missourians. The GOP is working on a way around fully funding the voter approved Medicaid expansion. If passed, and found constitutional, this stunt could lead to Missouri losing billions in federal funding that supports rural hospitals and providing affordable healthcare to hundreds of thousands of Missourians. Find your Rep here: Find Your Rep

2. SB26 is the Republican's attempt to silence and intimidate those who stand up and speak truth to power. Criminalizing Missourian’s 1st Amendment rights is bad enough, doing it to target those protesting injustice is unconscionable. Call these members of the Crime Prevention Committee and tell them to vote No on SB 26 and not to let it out of committee.

Find the Crime Prevention Committee here: Committees

Find your Rep here: Find Your Rep

3. Missouri’s initiative petition process is a constitutional right that has worked for over a century. Because certain politicians are afraid of the power of the people, they are trying to destroy this right, and silence Missouri citizens. Here’s what they’re trying to do:

*Charge you a $500 fee just to start the process

*Shorten the period of time in which you can gather signatures

*Increase the required number of signatures by hundreds of thousands

*Require a ⅔ supermajority vote to become law, instead of a simple majority

We have fought against - and stopped - bills like this before. We can - and must - do so again. Please, contact your state senator NOW to stop these anti-democratic bills and protect the ballot initiative process.

Guns everywhere bill: The gun lobby is pushing a dangerous "guns everywhere" bill that would put every Missouri resident at high risk of gun violence. Call your Rep and sign the petition to let Missouri lawmakers know you OPPOSE HB 86! Why HB 86 is so dangerous: *It would force colleges and universities to allow people to carry concealed handguns on their campuses *It would allow people to carry concealed handguns in daycares, and elementary, middle, and high schools *It would allow people to carry concealed handguns in bars (despite overwhelming public opposition and alcohol's association with increased aggression) *It would undermine private property owners' rights by allowing people to bring hidden, loaded handguns onto private property—even if the owner has posted a "no guns allowed" sign Call your Rep.
