March 14th, 2021

THIS NEWSLETTER CONTAINS IMPORTANT UPDATES ON COVID-19 VACCINE REGISTRATION AND AVAILABILITY. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS AND SHARE IT IN YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK. Per the CDC HERE'S WHAT WE CAN EXPECT POST-VACCINATION:

MISSOURI AUTHORIZES PHASE 1B-Tier 3 (critical infrastructure) VACCINATIONS to begin on March 15, 2021.

ST CHARLES COUNTY MASS VACCINE EVENT

St Charles County is conducting a mass vaccine event at the on Thursday, Mar 19, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Family Arena, 2002 Arena Pkwy, St Charles. As of this writing, registration for this event was in “pending” status, which may change once folks who have already registered through the Vaccine Navigator have been contacted. To monitor the situation, click here for the MO Vaccine Navigator .

MISSOURI COVID-19 VACCINE RESOURCES

All roads for state-sponsored mass vaccine events now lead to the Missouri Vaccine Navigator, to get in line based on your eligibility. In the past week, the state has begun notifying people who have registered, about vaccination opportunities across the state – information you receive does not appear to be tied to your actual regional location.

VACCINE NAVIGATOR

Sign up here: MO Vaccine Navigator or call the state’s COVID-19 hotline at 877-435-8411 for assistance in connecting with additional avenues in which to receive a vaccine.

MISSOURI MASS VACCINATION EVENTS MAP

This map shows Missouri by region, with vaccinators identified, and scheduled mass events where available. Click here for the map: MO Mass Vaccination Events . This event listing became less useful in the past 2 weeks, because the event links began re-routing users back to the navigator, rather than allowing sign-up for events. This effectively cuts down the ability to proactively cross county/regional lines to participate in events outside your home area.

ST CHARLES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

For questions about COVID-19 or assistance with registering to receive the COVID-19 vaccine,

please call the Information Hotline at 636-949-1899, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mon-Fri.

Whatever phase you are in, you can sign up NOW to be placed in a virtual queue. The registration survey is accessible in a red box marked “Register for COVID-19 Vaccine” following this link:

https://www.sccmo.org/2162/COVID-19-Vaccine-Information We urge you to also sign up through your health care provider’s hospital affiliation (such as SSM, Mercy or BJC) and create a MyChart account, so that you can receive a vaccination in the timeliest manner.

The State now uses the four St. Louis area hospital systems, the National Guard, federally qualified health centers, local public health authorities (in St. Charles County, that is the County Department of Public Health “DPH”) and registered vaccinators who are unaffiliated with a hospital association or large health care provider. In addition, the State has used pharmacies enrolled in the federal pharmacy program to vaccinate staff and residents in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. The County cannot purchase or obtain COVID-19 vaccine directly; it receives vaccine from the State and is required to use the vaccine within the priorities named by the State Department of Health and Senior Services.

Hospitals are not adhering strictly to the state phase guidelines, and may still be in earlier phases/tiers due to lack of vaccine supply. Area hospitals which also have sign-up sites for vaccines are:

BJC: https://www.bjc.org/Coronavirus/Covid-19-Vaccines

Mercy: https://www.mercy.net/forms/vaccinations/

SSM: https://mychart.ssmhc.com/mychart/

St. Lukes: https://lukesvaccine.com/

When your phase is reached and enough vaccine has been allocated to the DPH, you will receive an email or automated voice message telling you that you can schedule an appointment for a vaccine.

Please check your email (inbox and spam folders) and phone messages daily for notification. It is important for you to understand that appointment time slots are limited. Respond quickly. The message will include information about the appointment, the vaccine administered, and how to contact the DPH if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

“CROWD-SOURCED” VACCINE INFORMATION

With limited vaccines available through state distribution, and less-than- optimal distribution based on local populations, some vaccine opportunities can be identified both within and outside (sometimes far outside) St. Charles County through creative internet searching and tapping into social media. This depends frequently on being in the right place (website) at the right time, as when new appointments open, they are snapped up very quickly, sometimes in a matter of minutes.

  • Walgreens, and Walmart are having intermittent vaccine availability across the state, and provide search options on their websites, after you have created an account with them.

  • Hy-Vee in central MO has conducted clinics, and locations can be identified at https://www.hy-vee.com/my-pharmacy/covid-vaccine

  • “Medicine Shoppe” franchises have had availability, and can be identified by Googling “Medicine Shoppe” and a town name, and then going the store’s website or making a phone call.

  • Vaccine Spotter - https://www.vaccinespotter.org/MO/ is a search tool highlighting vaccine opportunities across the state.

  • Find the Face Book pages of surrounding county Health Departments, ”like” them and follow them – if they are having vaccination events and expect to have left-over vaccines, they have used Face Book to make a last-minute announcement.

  • Twitter – if you are an agile Twitter-user.

  • Face Book help groups: for those demographic groups that have been disproportionately affected by COVID19, and those that are confronting challenges - Socioeconomic, Geographical/transportation-based, Language-based, Technology-based, Disability/accessibility-based, schedule coinciding with appointment times, no time to look for appointments, post vaccine recuperation time – financial burden if can’t go to work. If any of these apply to you, contact The Missouri Vaccine Equity Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/142158124434444/

  • For those who need or prefer to schedule by phone:

St. Louis Public Radio has a hotline to help with scheduling an appointment for vaccination. Call 314-516-6430 and select your geographic area (STL City, STL County, St. Charles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin, Warren, Metro East, & Polk). They will give you numbers to call to schedule a vaccine appointment in your area.

Action items from the Missouri House Democratic Legislative Network (DLN):

1. Prop B passed in 2018 with 62.3% of the vote, raising the minimum wage in MO. HB 726 seeks to cut the minimum wage back to the 2006 standard that Missourians have already said wasn’t enough. Call Representatives Nick Schroer 573-751-1470, Danny Busick 573-751-3647, Allen Andrews 573-751-9465, Mitch Boggs 573-751-4077, Chris Brown 573-751-9458, Bill Falkner 573-751-9755, Jim Murphy 573-751-3719, Chris Sander 573-751-9766, Bruce Sassman 573-751-1344, Adam Schwadron 573-751-1452, Brian Seitz 573-751-1309, and Travis Smith 573-751-2042 and tell them to vote NO on HB 726. Stand with MO workers, and tell these reps to vote NO.

2. Call your legislator and tell them to Fully Fund Medicaid Expansion. The GOP is working on a way around fully funding the voter approved Medicaid expansion. If passed, and found constitutional, this stunt could lead to Missouri losing billions in federal funding that supports rural hospitals and providing affordable healthcare to hundreds of thousands of Missourians. Call and tell your legislator that we need to fully fund Medicaid expansion, as required by our constitution and voted on by Missourians.

here: Find Your Rep

3. And while you’re on the phone with your Rep, tell them to vote against HB 738. This bill brings photo ID back, photo voter ID discriminates against ethnic minorities and hurts elderly voters that may not be able to access documents for certification.

4. And while you’re on the phone with your Rep, tell them to vote NO on changes to the Initiative petition process. There are a dozen bills that will drastically erode citizens ability to take part in and influence their democracy. See bills HJR5, HJR2, HJR9, HJR15, HJR14, HB333, HJR20, HJR25, HJR26, HJR27, HB566, and HJR22 here: Bills
